How does EnCOMPASS work?
Measurement
Effective management of a network can’t be provided by one piece of software. EnCOMPASS leverages several tools to monitor and update the network. At the heart of this toolset is the EnCOMPASS agent which is installed by our deployment team after a customer signs up.
The agent resides on all servers and workstations and also establishes connections to switches, routers, printers, and any other network attached device. From there it “phones home” at regular intervals to report on the health of everything it monitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The EnCOMPASS agent simplifies our team’s view of your environment allowing us to “see” trends such as disk consumption, error logs, memory and processor usage, licensing compliance, and almost any other metric that we need to measure. Additionally, the agent allows for remote management, automatic patching, and even simplified PC migrations. The agent is like having an engineer onsite 24x7x365.
In addition to the agent, EnCOMPASS customers benefit from our network penetration testing system. Twice a month this performs over 20,000 tests on the firewalls and public facing servers owned by our customers. These tests simulate the most common methods used by hackers, and expose server vulnerabilities that could potentially be exploited.
Human Intervention
One of Envision’s strengths has always been that we take a very hands-on approach to every technology problem we encounter. We have continued that tradition with EnCOMPASS. Other IT management companies have automated reports that are sent straight to clients. By contrast, every report generated by EnCOMPASS is sent to our engineering team first. The report is then reviewed by an engineer that can dig into, and confirm, any notable issues. Every customer deserves to have a real person focused on the health of their network. EnCOMPASS delivers exactly that.
Reporting
Once the software has done its job, the data is aggregated and turned into reports that are sent to our customers on a monthly basis. These reports make it easy for anyone to understand the strengths and weaknesses associated with their technology investment. Don’t understand something on a report? No problem.
