Jay Longley

Senior Consultant, Public Sector Specialist

I have been at Envision since:

2018

Hobbies, activities, or interests:

I have developed a wide variety of interests over the years and have found that through my hobbies and activities I have learned to challenge myself both physically and mentally and experience so much of what life has to offer. My most recent accomplishment is obtaining my private pilot license and look forward to using that to continue to explore the world. Additionally, I have played in hardcore bands, and surfed all over the United States, Central America, and Hawaii. I have been in mud runs in the US and other countries and made it into the Trifecta Tribe. I have completed the IBA 1000, enjoyed extreme off-road motorcycle sports, traveled to far-off lands where electricity is a luxury. I have found that through hobbies, learning, and exploration, that I am able to appreciate what I have and challenge myself to truly live every day to the fullest.

Interesting story or fact about me:

I was honored to be the recipient of the NRCC award for "Businessman of the Year from the State of Rhode Island" and given the opportunity to meet the President of the United States. While grateful for the chance to meet our Commander in Chief, family will always come first for me. I declined the invitation so that I could be present at my son’s graduation. Some moments you can never get back.

Professional summary:

I have been working in the technology industry for 27 years. In 1999, I received my first technical certification and in 2001 I became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) in Windows NT 4.0. I was one of the first engineers certified as an MCSA, which gave me the distinguished title of being a Charter Member. I began my career building networks and truly love breaking down all challenges into distinct and solvable building blocks. Since then, I have held various positions including CEO, Principal, Managing Partner, and Manager for several organizations. I currently head Envision's Public Sector Division, with a focus on schools and local governments across the United States, because I recognize the magnitude of both risk and need for assistance in those sectors. This role includes architecting and building comprehensive security solutions based on NIST and Zero Trust frameworks to support our clients.

I also enjoy sitting on the CTE Advisory Board for RIDE and the Technology Committee for Meals on Wheels of RI.

I have a passion for learning and am always studying, experimenting with, and implementing new things to challenge myself to grow as well as to find new and innovative ways to meet the needs of our clients...always!
